ABOUT THE GUERNSEY COUNTY FARMERS MARKET
About the Organization
Guernsey County Farmers Market was founded in 2006
The original Friday market at US Bank had 7 vendors.
By 2007,
GCFM had grown to 22 weekly vendors
The goals in 2006 were the same as the goals are today –
To create venues where local farmers can connect directly with
Consumers, to build community in an urban setting,
And to provide public education on
regional farming gardening and food preparation.
GCFM is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization operated
and governed by a volunteer board.
The organization is funded through vendor fees,
and
countless hours of volunteer time.

Our Mission
“To engage in constructive activities that supports all of Guernsey County,
especially small and family-run farms and local independent businesses,
while creating a vibrant educational marketplace for the benefit of our community.”
Our Vision
GCFM creates vibrant opportunities for the region's agricultural community
to come together with urban residents to share the bounty of our land.
The downtown Friday Farmers Market is our signature weekly event.
That supports growers, artisan food makers and quality crafters.
GCFM strives to maximize the consumption of local foods through
leadership in the farm direct movement and create educational programs
to strengthen consumer support of local agriculture.
And explore additional distribution channels for farm direct products.
GCFM seeks to operate at the highest level of
integrity in our dealings with customers and vendors.
We Value
The farmers and the producers of our food.
Local businesses that use local products.
The customers who so gloriously support our producers.
Access to healthy fresh foods to people of all income levels.
Preservation of farm land.
Community that is created when people come together to
support regional agriculture.
Strategic partnerships and alliances to further our mission.
Financial stability to support our on-going goals.
